Responsibility
Sustainability & responsible travel.
HHPC's work takes clients into fragile environments and traditional communities. How we travel — and who we travel with — matters as much as whether the objective is achieved.
Our position
Travel, properly conducted, is a force for good. Conducted carelessly, it is not. HHPC accepts that every journey carries an environmental and human footprint, and treats the reduction and offsetting of that footprint as a professional obligation rather than a marketing line.
Choice of in-country partners
HHPC refers clients only to operators whose ethics, safety record and environmental practice meet our standards. Recognised credentials — B Corp certification, Travelife, ATTA membership and equivalent — are weighted heavily in that judgement, alongside direct knowledge of the operator's people and practices on the ground.
Carbon
Clients are advised honestly on the carbon cost of proposed journeys and on practical ways to reduce it: fewer, longer, more meaningful trips in place of many shorter ones; surface travel where credible; and verified carbon removal — not low-quality offset — for residual emissions.
Community & cultural respect
Preparation for any HHPC engagement includes the cultural literacy needed to travel with respect: language, custom, religious sensitivity and an understanding of how visitors are perceived. Where possible, engagements direct economic benefit to local guides, porters and small operators rather than to extractive supply chains.
Wildlife & protected environments
HHPC will not facilitate engagements that involve captive-wildlife interactions, hunting of protected species, or travel into areas where the presence of outsiders is known to cause harm. Where clients wish to engage with wildlife or wilderness, HHPC works only with operators following established non-interference principles.
Causes we support
HHPC contributes a portion of fees from qualifying engagements to a small number of named conservation and community partners in the regions in which clients travel. Specific partners and contributions are stated in writing at the outset of each engagement; if the client has a preferred cause, that can also be negotiated.
Engagements we will decline
HHPC reserves the right to decline any engagement whose objectives, conduct or destination would conflict with the principles set out on this page, regardless of fee. The standard applies equally to clients and to partners.
